Mitigation
Actions intended to limit additional property damage after an event, such as extracting water and controlling moisture.
Restoration
Work intended to return damaged property or materials toward pre-loss condition after stabilization and mitigation.
Burst pipe
A plumbing pipe that has ruptured or separated and is releasing water.
Sewer backup
Wastewater flowing backward into a building through drains, toilets, tubs, or other fixtures.
Main sewer line
The primary pipe carrying wastewater from a building toward the municipal sewer or other disposal system.
Septic backup
Wastewater backing up or surfacing because a private septic system is overloaded, blocked, damaged, or malfunctioning.
Emergency tarp
A temporary weather-protection measure used after certain roof damage; it is not a permanent roof repair.
Dispatch
The downstream provider's process for assigning and sending a service resource after qualification.
